The Only Ones We Use We’ve bought and used countless submergible de-icers on our farm through the years. A good portion of them were junk, some were pretty good and only one will I say is good quality, this Farm Innovators deicer. With that said, I don’t consider it great. Great to me is one that would last 10 years or more. Unfortunately that is very rarely the case. We long ago came to expect that we would need to replace them in the 5-7 year range. We have had a couple last about 10 years. Though for the time…
I found this VERYmisleading… BIG RESTOCKING FEE! It said that it had a thermostat, so like anyone else with a thermostat, I assumed that it was adjustable. It is not. It will only come on when temps drop to freeze. It cannot be adjusted to come on sooner, or to heat. Unfortunately, when doing a search for a “Heater” this comes up, but it isn’t a heater at all, it’s a de-icer. That may not be the companies fault… but you’re still going to pay dearly for it!It’s expensive and the company wouldn’t allow me to return it…
Short Cord, Doesn’t Turn Off, Corrosion, But it heats the water! After only a week in the water, it’s covered in white corrosion. Also, we’ve used 2 of these and neither of them shut off. The water in one tank got up over 60 which is an unnecessary waste of energy. Cord is reinforced with a stretched out spring type deal, but is only 6′ long. I know you’re not supposed to use extension cords with these, but how often is your cattle trough near a power outlet?Follow up. Both heaters died. Massive corrosion on the element as well as the wire…
