Paul Mazzolini (stage name Gazebo), is an Italian musician. He was born in Lebanon, the son of an Italian diplomat and an American singer. According to legend, he learned to play the guitar at age 10 to impress a German girl in his class. As a rather cosmopolitan teenager, Gazebo began a career in a variety of jazz, rock and punk bands before signing with Baby Records. His footnote in charts history is his 1983 release I like Chopin, popular opinion notwithstanding, the piano motif herein is not a Chopin composition. The release sold 8 million copies worldwide and reached No. 1 on the Italian charts along with 15 other countries. This remaster is so bright it’s practically unlistenable unless you turn your treble down as far as it will go. Lyrics with an “s” in it grate on your ears. Higher pitched keyboards also sound thin and piercing. You almost get the sense that all they did was take the master, play it with the highs on the equalizer cranked as far as they’ll go and record the output calling it a remaster.
