I am giving this item 2 stars because it does seem to work to shade our area and it seems to be sturdy once assembled. I would caution purchase for a few reasons. The pergola was almost impossible to put together – poor directions and the need for at least 3 people for assembly as well as the time needed to put together (it was a 2 day project) – if you have a lot of time and a lot of friends to help it may not be an issue. Whew! What a mess! We got this for our rooftop terrace. Seriously regret not hiring someone to put it together and erect it. We were careful to not put this together on windy days. We also slowly put it together since we didn’t have time to do it all at once. First of all, the directions were insanely difficult to understand, some of the metal was already warped and difficult to line up the screws.
