My umbrella hole is 2-1/4 inches and there is no other hole ring that size or larger that I could use. There is a flower vase and I looked at drain stoppers (flat vinyl circles) to glue down and bath safety stickers but they were too prominent for my needs. I read “Steel’s” advice to use clear tubing around the hole but that was too much work. Instead, I used glue (E6000 from Home Depot) to glue down part of an edge. It was difficult to do because the outer ring overlaps only by 1/8…
Although initially very difficult to pull the plug and ring apart — by softening the plastic in warm water, and a lot of effort, that was enough to get it to disengage. I suspect these two parts are packaged too soon after manufacture and bond together. But once in place, it fit snugly and does a great job keeping my 1-1/2″ umbrella pole in position without any wobbling. The correct size for your table (diameter, thickness, and pole diameter), of course, is critical. It looks nice too…
