However, sometimes it’s a nice, hot day and a breeze picks up every now and then. So you open up your umbrella, secure it in this stand and hope that it keeps everything stable and from flying away. Needs Improvement I bought this stand knowing that it wouldnât be sufficient on its own. I have a 13â patio umbrella with a 2â pole, so I was looking for a stand that a) would accommodate the poleâs diameter, and b) had a flat base that on which I could rest a heavy sandbag.
